Three BSF killed in road accident in Senapati

Ukhrul, March 11: Three Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were killed, and at least 16 others injured in a tragic road accident on National Highway-2 at Changoubung village, Senapati district on Tuesday.

The unfortunate accident occurred at around 3:15 pm on Tuesday where three personnel from the 37 Bn BSF were killed.

As per sources, the jawans were traveling in a Tata 207 DI Truck (WB 61B 7147) when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into a deep gorge. Two personnel died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries at the District Hospital in Senapati.

The incident took place while the BSF personnel were returning from duty at Keithelmanbi to their base at IIIT, Mayangkhang.

Sixteen personnel, including the driver, were reportedly on board. All the occupants sustained injuries, with 8 seriously injured individuals being referred to Imphal for further treatment. The bodies of the deceased will be deposited at the RIMS Morgue. Details regarding the identities of the deceased and the cause of the accident remain unknown at the time of filing this report.

Manipur Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident in Changoubung village, Senapati district, where three BSF personnel lost their lives, the office of the Governor said.

“He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Raj Bhavan X handled wrote.
