SENAPATI: The 17th martyrdom anniversary of Lt. Dikho Loshuo and Lt. Neli Chakho was solemnly observed on Wednesday at Martyrs Park, Mao Gate, with leaders, organisations, and local residents paying tribute to the fallen.

The commemorative programme was organised by the Mao Council under the aegis of the United Naga Council, drawing participation from various civil society groups and community members.

The observance began with an invocation prayer by L. Adahrii, Pastor of MBC Kalinamai, followed by a floral tribute ceremony. Representatives of the United Naga Council, Naga Peoples’ Organisation, Mao Council, Mao Students’ Union, and Mao Naga Women Welfare Association, along with other village bodies and well-wishers, laid wreaths and paid homage to the martyrs.

A moment of silence was also observed in remembrance of Lt. Dikho Loshuo and Lt. Neli Chakho.

Delivering the salutation address, United Naga Council President NG Lohrii described the martyrs’ sacrifice as a supreme offering for the larger cause of the Naga people. He said the observance serves as a reminder of their courage and commitment.

While noting that the programme was held on a modest scale, he emphasised that such occasions reaffirm unity and the collective identity of the Naga community. He also expressed appreciation to the Mao Council, local residents, and the families of the martyrs for preserving their legacy.
