With the initiative of the Mao Civil Society Organisations under the aegis of Mao Council extended assistance towards Government of Manipur, Health Department to combat the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic. The Mao CSOs have taken up this noble initiative with the belief that the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic has to be a join fight unitedly from all spheres and that the public should not rely on the government alone. The Mao CSOs plays an important role in setting an awareness and far outreach to the masses in sensitising about the importance of social distancing and vaccination.Â
The CSO’s handed over 10 no. of 5L Oxygen concentrators, 30 nos. Pulse Oximeter, 200 nos. PPE Kits, 200 nos. N95 Masks and 10,000 nos. of 3 Ply Face Masks.
The items and medical equipments were handed over to the Chief Medical Officer, Senapati along with Medical Officers in charges of Sub- District Hospital Mao and Tadubi Community Health Centre. Â
The handing over ceremony was blessed by Rev. Koda, Executive Secretary, Mao Baptist Churches Association (MBCA) and Lowli, President, Mao Catholic Association (MCA).Â
Mao Council President, S. Daiho Mao at the handing over ceremony stated that lots have been affected by Covid-19 in the state as well as Senapati district. The Mao Council in coordination with other CSOs have decided to extend assistance to the state and the district. The noble initiative was made possible with the support of Mao Churches who contributed financial resources to procure the medical equipments namely, Mao Baptist Churches Association (MBCA), Mao Catholic Association (MCA), Mao Christian Revival Churches and Mao Seventh-Day Adventist. With the joint support of the civil societies and religious organizations in collaboration with Government medical team, the CSOs believe to create awareness and the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic could be curtailed. The CSOs had distributed face masks & PPE kits to the concerned village task force in coordination with the village authorities to all Mao villages in Senapati district, the President mentioned.
Dr. Pfokreho Pfoze, CMO, Senapati in his speech expressed happiness for such generous donation towards combating the dreaded disease. On behalf of the district medical fraternity, the CMO asserted to have boosted much confidence to all health care workers where the CHCs, PHCs and the PHSCs could enable to manage efficiently even when any Covid positive person might be in critical condition. With storage of such consignment in nearby health care centres, any patient on home isolation who has lowered SPO2 could serve efficiently and later could refer to District Hospital having administered oxygen, the CMO added. The CMO expressed gratitude to the team of the Mao Council.
