Ukhrul, April 30: Renowned Indian boxer and Olympic medalist M.C. Mary Kom has issued a legal notice to media houses and online platforms, demanding an immediate halt to speculative reporting surrounding her personal life. The notice, issued by her legal counsel Rajat Mathur, follows an article published in the Hindustan Times EFL on April 7, 2025, which triggered widespread media commentary and online rumors.

The legal notice strongly refutes primarily two specific claims concerning Mary Kom’s divorce and separation from her husband Onkholer (Onler) Kom, and the second involving alleged romantic links to Hitesh Choudhary, chairman of the Mary Kom Boxing Foundation.

According to the notice made public, Mary Kom and Onkholer Kom finalised their divorce by mutual consent under Kom Customary Law on December 20, 2023, in the presence of family members and community leaders. The notice says that both parties have since moved on, and any further discussion or speculation about their past relationship is unwarranted and intrusive.

The second allegation, suggesting a personal relationship between Mary Kom and Hitesh Choudhary, is categorically denied. The notice clarifies that Hitesh Choudhary’s involvement with Mary Kom is strictly professional, limited to business collaboration within the scope of the Mary Kom Boxing Foundation.

Mary Kom has requested the public, her fans, and the media to respect her privacy as she navigates this challenging period. The legal document warns that continued circulation of baseless stories may lead to defamation proceedings, both civil and criminal, and legal action for violation of privacy rights.
