Ukhrul, April 30: A total of 21 Members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, including 13 from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and others from the National People’s Party (NPP), Naga People’s Front (NPF), and Independent ranks, have jointly submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling for the immediate restoration of a democratically elected government in the state.

The MLAs stated that the imposition of President’s Rule on February 13, 2025, initially welcomed by the public with optimism, has failed to yield any significant improvement in peace and normalcy.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister on Monday, the legislators voiced concern over the deteriorating public mood and increasing agitation by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), who are accusing elected representatives of not making efforts to form a government.

The legislators assured the central leadership of their unified commitment to work with full dedication towards peace and development in the state, should an elected government be reinstated.
