Meetei Christians hold peace rally in support of Manipur govt’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign

Imphal: Thousands of Meetei Christians in Manipur today took out a peace rally extending support to ‘War On Drugs” campaign initiated by Manipur Government.

Thousands of people participated in the rally which kicked off from Thangmeiband Thao Ground and culminated at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal.

Speaking on the sidelines, Information Secretary of Organising Committee, Doctor K. Nobo said, the rally was held on the theme “Save Manipur, Save Environment”. He stressed that environment in the valley will deteriorate with the deterioration of environment in the hills of Manipur, as the State is made up of both hills and valley.

Doctor K. Nobo also maintained that the rally aimed to convey a public message on protecting and conserving the environment through concerted efforts from both Manipur hills and valley inhabitants.

The peace rally covered Thangmeiband, Nagamapal, Waheng Leikai, Keishampat and Keishamthong and Thumbuthong before culminating at Hapta Kangjeibung, where a public meeting was also convened.
