Meghalaya Govt identifies over 50 thousand Un-electrified Households

Shillong, April 13: Over 50,984 households in 2239 villages in Meghalaya are un-electrified (UE).

Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to Ministry of Power for the electrification of additional household under RDSS on December 22, 2023 amounting to Rs 489.35 crore comprising of 50984 un-electrified (UE) households (HHs) in 2239 numbers of habitations, official sources said.

REC Limited on March 6, 2024 has sanctioned additional household electrification works for un-electrified habitations under RDSS amounting to Rs 429.26 crore comprising 50501 households covering the 1939 habitation, they said.

Union Power minister during the North East Power Minister Meeting held on July 9, 2024 at Guwahati agreed in principle that the expenditure as per actual will be considered.

The tendering of the above scheme is in advance stages and award will be done shortly,  the official sources while adding all the household will be electrified and infra will be created upto the premises of beneficiary/consumer.
