Meghalaya govt to improve telecom infrastructure

The State government of Meghalaya has lined up a slew of measures to improve the telecom sector in Meghalaya.

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma tweeted, “Another critical infrastructure area, particularly relevant in the #Covid situation, is Information Technology infrastructure. To improve the internet and telecommunication connectivity, various plans have been initiated under the #RestartMeghalaya Mission. @rsprasad @GoI_MeitY”.

Sangma informed that the government of Meghalaya had already installed 115 out of the 521 VSATs in various districts of the State with the aim to empower the villages with internet connectivity.

The Chief Minister also informed that 889 4G towers would be installed that would cover 1,164 additional villages and stretches of the National Highway.
