Shillong, September 11: Meghalaya has recorded a total of 12,405 cancer cases between 2019 and 2023.

East Khasi Hills district reported the highest number of cancer cases with 5,199 incidents, followed by West Garo Hills with 3,398 cases.

West Jaintia Hills recorded 1,127 cases, Ri Bhoi 1,036, East Jaintia Hills 467, Eastern West Khasi Hills 455, West Khasi Hills 416, and South West Khasi Hills 307.

This was informed by the minister in-charge Health and Family Welfare, Ampareen Lyngdoh in her reply tabled in the Assembly today.
