3 Arrested on Meghalaya Students Death in Karnataka

Shillong, Mar 18: Three persons including a school owner and hostel warden have been arrested in connection with the food poisoning incident in Karnataka which led to the death of two students from Meghalaya.

The state team of officials from the Education Department reached the place of occurrence in Mandya district of Karnataka and took stock of the situation.

The team met the District Magistrate of Mandya district and also visited the hospital where the students belonging to Meghalaya are being given medical care.

They also visited the residential school where the incident took place and met all the stakeholders. The team will be submitting their report to the Education Department subsequently.

Commissioner & Secretary, Home (Police)Department Cyril Diengdoh also reached the spot accompanied by the District Administration and Police Officials.

District Magistrate Dr Kumar apprised him that the Police Investigation is going on in full swing and already 3 people have been arrested including the school owner and hostel warden.

The senior Medical Officers of the hospital were also present to brief him on the status of the students from Meghalaya.

In an unfortunate development, one student who was in critical condition for the last few days and who was referred to a higher medical facility passed away last night.

All other 22 students from Meghalaya are in stable condition and are being monitored closely.
