Meiphung FC Crowned Champions of Ukhrul District League 2024

Ukhrul: Debutant Meiphung FC is the new champion of Ukhrul District League 2024. A haul from Somikan Shinglai in their last robin league match helped the club to secure the top position in the District League 2024 held at Bakshi Ground, Hungpung, Ukhrul on Thursday.

Ukhrul Town United FC (UTUFC) was declared the runner-up of Ukhrul District League 2024.

Champion Meiphung FC will represent UDSA at the forth coming edition of Winner’s Cup and runner-up UTUFC will represent UDSA at the CC Meet.

Somikan Shinglai (Jersey No. 9) of Meiphung FC was awarded the top scorer of the league with a score of 6 goals. The best defender was awarded to Thangmeiton Mungleng (Jersey No. 55) of Haokok United FA. The best goalkeeper award went to S. Leishipam of Meiphung FC and Heisem Kapai (Jersey No. 8) of Meiphung FC walked away with the best midfielders award.

Vice President of Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA), Chonmi Raleng informed that “Meiphung FC, Ukhrul Town United Football Club (UTUFC), Haokok United Football Academy and Pathway Empowerment Football Academy (PEFA) has been promoted to Super Division of Ukhrul District”.

Organised by UDSA, the District League has been organised to promote the existing football clubs and football academies in the district and to nurture the young talents and skills of the players.
