Mezoma Students’ Union Kicks Off 75th Anniversary Celebration with Focus on Unity and Progress

Ukhrul, Jan 10: The 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Mezoma Students’ Union, with the theme “Vi Kerieke Khe”, commenced on January 10 at Mezoma.

Gracing the inaugural session, Dr. Zasekuolie Chüsi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Land Revenue & Director, Census Operations, highlighted the importance of reflecting on past achievements while envisioning a future that resonates with the evolving world.

Dr. Zasekuolie Chüsi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Land Revenue & Director, Census Operations, reminded the gathering that Nagaland’s statehood was achieved through political determination. This marked a significant chapter in Naga history. However, Nagaland is still lacking behind when compared with other North Eastern states.

Dr. Chüsi urged the students to recognise that every individual has a unique gift and emphasised the importance of nurturing talents within the community. He called on the gathering to encourage one another, recognise each person’s potential, and push each other forward to achieve collective success. He also stressed the importance of standing firm in values and rising above challenges to build a better tomorrow for the community.

Lhouchalie Viya, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, NSDMA & NRE, challenged the students to give their best with sincerity and dedication in all their endeavours. He urged the youth to strive for excellence, reminding them that consistent hard work and honesty are key to success.
While emphasising the need for equal contributions from all, he lamented that many men fall behind women in terms of dedication, perseverance, and responsibility. He also encouraged male students to step up, take responsibility, and work harder to match the achievements of their female counterparts for the progress of the community.

The inaugural session was led by Keviseto Rhitso, Co-Convenor of the Central Organising Committee, with Rev. Vicavor Krose, Pastor of Mezoma Baptist Church, invoking God’s blessings upon the celebration.

A special song was presented by Government High School, Mezoma, and Mezo-Liezha, led by Rüüvisie Krose. Greetings were delivered by Mezomia Mechü Kehou and the Western Angami Students’ Union, who extended their best wishes to the Mezoma Students’ Union on their landmark achievement.
