MGNREGS in Mizoram: 74 days of wage employment in 10 months

In ten months, the state government of Mizoram could provide 74 days of wage employment to beneficiaries under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

According to an official source, from January 2020 till October 2020, cardholders in Mizoram under MGNREGS were employed for 74 days.

This information was revealed by Mizoram Rural Development minister Lalruatkima during a meeting of the Mizoram Employment Guarantee Council, the source also said.

According to the source, the Mizoram government is working hard to have 100 days of wage employment in the current fiscal year.

According to the official source, each worker is given Rs 225 per day under the MGNREGS. About 2 lakhs job card holders are there in Mizoram.

The Mizoram government then expressed that the scheme had been a great help to the people during difficult times such as COVID-19 pandemic.
