Militant held with arm in Manipur

Imphal: An active cadre of Kuki National Front (KNF-Nehlun faction) was arrested with a small arm loaded with three live rounds in Manipur’s Bishnupur district, police said on Sunday.

A combined force of Bishnupur district police commando unit and 10 Assam Rifles arrested the KNF(N) cadre identified as Johnny Kongshai (23) of Kangpokpi district on Saturday, around 6 pm, the police further said.

A one 9mm pistol with a magazine loaded with three live rounds of 9mm ammunition was confiscated from his possession, the police added.

He was arrested during an operation launched by the combined force at Laimaton area under Loktak police station of Bishnupur district, based on reliable information, the police also stated.

The arrested cadre along with the seized weapon has been handed over to Loktak police station for further necessary action, the police further added.
