Miscreants Plant Bomb at Diabetes Hospital & Research Centre, Imphal’s Porompat

Imphal: Unidentified miscreants planted a bomb at the Diabetes Hospital and Research Centre, located along the JNIMS Road in Porompat Soibam Leikai, Imphal East District, on Friday morning. According to reliable sources, two unidentified individuals approached the hospital’s OPD counter and handed over a box to the staff, claiming it contained medicines for a doctor. Upon opening the parcel, the staff discovered a hand grenade inside.

Immediately alerted by the bomb threat, a police team arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The hand grenade was safely removed from the hospital premises, and a case has been registered regarding the incident.

Speaking to the media, Dr. M. Dhanabir, Managing Director of Diabetes Hospital and Research Centre, expressed concern over the recurring threats. He mentioned that this was the second time a bomb has been planted at the hospital. Dr. Dhanabir revealed that armed miscreants have repeatedly demanded money from the hospital, and despite lodging complaints with the police, no substantial action has been taken so far.
