MK Preshow Shimray’s mission “Reaching the unreached” under Seva Hi Sangathan II which began on May 30 of this year, culminated on August 16 with Khamasom Phungrei village as the last stop.
Under the former Deputy Speaker’s (Manipur Legislative Assembly) leadership, the karyakartas of BJP Chingai Mandal started the mission in the month of May at Ringui village as a celebration to mark and commemorate the successful 7 years completion of prime minister Narendra Modi’s BJP led National Democratic Alliance in central government.
The media wing of MK Preshow Shimray who will contest the ensuing state election from 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency as intending BJP candidate informed that under the theme, “Reaching the unreached,” the party karyakartas brought medical essentials from Imphal, such as mask, hand sanitizers, medicines, PPE kits along with bags of rice and financial assistance distributed to all the villages in Chingai A/c. Several trips starting from Ringui village to Jessami via Talloi and Champhung Changta to Khamasom Phungrei via Chingai, at the approximate distance of almost 200 km each, all villages were reached by Preshow Shimray and his team.
The vital mission, despite the poor road condition with the onset of monsoon covered more than 50 villages touching 66 polling booths under Chingai constituency, one of the biggest constituencies which have bordering villages to Myanmar and Nagaland.
Pointing out the four (4) important Health Centres in the constituency, Preshow Shimray arranged and provided oxygen concentrators, D-Type oxygen cylinders along with the essential medical Kits. An appeal to chief minister N. Biren Singh was also made, to increase the number of doctors and nurses in these health centres.
All villages were given financial assistance through the local Covid Committees of each villages with the support of Church and other societies. Many villages also received bags of rice along with other much needed assistance. In villages where farmers are facing drought-like situation owing to misbalance in seasonal monsoon, water pumps and seeds for alternative farming were also provided.
Speaking to media outlets in his official residence in Imphal, Preshow Shimray gave his utmost thanks to the Almighty God for giving the resources and the opportunity to serve during these tiring times. He also conveyed his gratitude to leaders of Central and State government, especially PM Narendra Modi and CM N. Biren Singh for all the initiative so far to fight the pandemic.
During his visits covering Chingai A/c landscape, he gave an account to villagers/village leaders of all the policy programmes that the government is taking up so far to help improve their livelihood. He also mentioned that this tour was possible because of the cooperation given by various leaders on many platforms. Preshow Shimray also thanked the Chingai Mandal BJP President, his colleagues and the karyakartas who have accompanied him in this mission.
The main objective of this tour was the “Vaccination Drive”, to appeal to the people to take Covid-19 vaccination, to remove all fears and rumours by giving factual information. He also mentioned that PM Modi’s policy of ‘Free vaccination for all’ (above the age of 18) is the best way to help fight the Covid-19 Pandemic.
He also stated that all the villages he visited gave him warm hospitality, even during the lockdown to contain the virus. He said he was deeply touched with the people of his constituency for showing immense support and for listening to the messages delivered with keen interest. Preshow Shimray also expressed happiness with all the villages assurance to get vaccinated at the earliest. “By the end of this mission, the team has already witnessed results, many has taken the jab following the drive,” the statement concluded quoting Preshow Shimray as saying.
