MLA Khashim inaugurates UADC projects at Teinem, Phalee

Chingai MLA Khashim Vashum on Saturday inaugurated two new projects of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) at Teinem and Phalee villages under Lungchong Meiphai sub division.

He inaugurated Luira 2020 Memorial Gate at Teinem village constructed under 15 Finance Commission 2020-2021 and Barrack Type Teachers’ Quarter at Phalee village constructed under SPA 2018-19 of the council.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA urged the local villagers to maintain and take proper care of the facilities which are useful community assets for them.

At the same time, Khashim announced different water supply schemes for four major villages in western region of the district.

He said that New Development Bank (NDB) has sanctioned Rs. 128 Lakhs for Teinem village, Rs. 126 Lakhs for Somdal village and Rs. 108 for Sirarakhong village for implementation of rural water supply scheme, while another water supply project would be taken up at Phalee village at the cost of Rs. 90 Lakhs under JJM.

As part of the event, MLA Khashim and SDO Nimmi Khamrang who are chairman and convenor of District Covid-19 committee respectively, also conducted a brief seminar on safety rules in line with the SOP to help protect against Covid-19. They urged the villagers to always wear masks when going out, maintain social distance and wash hands frequently until vaccines for the virus is developed.

Among those attending the event included ADC Ukhrul chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, councilors Thanchipem Jagoi, Khayonghor, CEO UADC Polly Makan and chiefs, VA members and public from Phalee and Teinem villages.
