Ukhrul, Jan 27: The incumbent 44-Ukhrul assembly constituency MLA, Ram Muivah on Saturday inaugurated Christ King Parish Youth Federation (CKPYF) cum 2nd general conference on Saturday. The four-day long event was held under the theme “Live his life and do his work – Colossians 1:10.”
Speaking at the occasion, Ram Muivah harped on the significance of Chingjaroi village in the history of Manipur. Hundreds of villagers had sacrificed their lives in defence of Manipur from the invading Burmese forces.
“Chingjaroi is like a pilgrimage to me. Today, I, salute and pay my tribute to the departed heroes and heroines, the brave sons of the land, the sentinel of Manipur,” he emphasised.

The village deserves better in terms of physical development. Chingjaroi is also one of the oldest villages of Tangkhul community. The deplorable road condition of the village saddened me. I wonder as to how one of the oldest and biggest village of the community is made to suffered such deficit, he pointed out.
Stressing on the significance of youths, he said that youth power must be unleashed and used for nation building.
He also exhorted the youths to give due importance to education as it is the window to success.
Encouraging youths to venture into entrepreneurship, he pointed out that there is limit in government services. But in the field of entrepreneurship, sky is the limit. He then thanked the locals for the warmth reception accorded to him.

The programme began with unveiling of post jubilee flag by Ram Muivah.
As part of the event, local youth displayed cultural items and choreography, among others.
In his speech, Robert Tamang, president CKPYF welcomed one and all the to the event and wished them a blessed time.
Pamlei Soro, functional president, who is also the first president of CKPYF thanked the federation for inviting him to be the occasion as the guest of honour.

Recalling the genesis of the federation, Pamlei Soro said the federation was established in 1994 with five rupees as registration fee per youth member.
He then urged the youths to work towards reviving CKPYF and become a role-model of change in the area.
“Youth must stay away from drugs and alcohol. The old notion of once in a blue moon mentality need not be tried and tested because sooner or later it will lead to addiction and ruin your life. You should rather take decisive decision and lead a meaningful life and bring desire change in the society,” he further urged and remarked.

The four-day long event hosted by Chingjaroi khullen will conclude on January 30.
Chingjaroi village, home to around 1000 plus households is located at the remote northern part of Manipur’s Ukhrul district.
The village is home to scores of flora and fauna. The majestic Chingjui peak (Chingjui Matha) is one of the scenic spot of the village.
Topographically, the three sister village of Chingjaroi is situated at the foothills of Matha peak.
