UKHRUL: The Kuki Human Rights Council (KHRC) has condemned the Modi-led BJP government’s “sinister agenda” to undermine the Kuki community’s struggle for self-determination.
In a statement issued on Saturday, KHRC demanded an immediate end to the Modi government’s divisive tactics and called for a separate administration for the Kuki community.
It accused the Modi government of manipulating and exploiting their representatives.
“The Modi government’s divisive agenda against the Kuki community is a clear violation of human rights. By manipulating and exploiting our representatives, they are denying us our right to self-determination and perpetuating oppression. This is a grave injustice, and we will not rest until our rights are recognized and respected,” it stated.Â

KHRC alleged the Centre of employing divisive tactics to pit them against each other, creating divisions within their community, while adding that the Modi government has consistently ignored their pleas despite the Kuki community’s demand for a separate administration.
“The inclusion of Kuki MLAs in the Manipur government is a classic example of this tactic. They are attempting to create a rift within our community, to weaken our struggle and perpetuate their own power and control,” KHRC stated, adding that the Modi government’s actions were not only divisive but also perilous.
“They are playing with fire, and the consequences will be catastrophic. The Kuki community will not be silenced or divided,” it cautioned.

It reiterated that the Kukis will continue to fight for their rights and demand a separate administration.
“We will not be deterred by the government’s tactics, and we will not be swayed by their empty promises. The KHRC demands an immediate end to the Modi government’s divisive tactics and calls for a separate administration for the Kuki community,” it stated.
KHRC further alleged that the Modi government has manipulated KNO and UPF leaders under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, with no intention of finding a political solution to the Kuki issue for over 15 years.
It alleged that the centre has used the SoO agreement as a tool to fragment and divide the Kuki community and create divisions and mistrust among the people.
