The Monsang Naga Students’ Union (SIRTI THIIMJIITAM SOURKHE) has congratulated Dr. W. Somie Monsang S/o (L). W. Shiirnong Kumar Monsang and Ng. Shangthin Monsang of Japhou Village, Chandel District, Manipur on being conferred the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Manipur University on July 29, 2022 for his thesis entitled “Christianity among the Monsang Nagas, 1900-1980s: A Historical Study”.

Dr. W. Somie Monsang did his Doctoral Research under the supervision of Dr. Chungmeijai Mathew MK, Department of History, Manipur University.

Dr. W. Somie has cleared NET examination conducted by UGC in June 2004 and December 2004. He formerly taught history at Miranda House, Delhi University. He was formerly the Principal cum Administrator of Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Chikim-Moreh. His research papers have been published in reputed national and international peer reviewed journals. He is the co-author of an edited book titled “History of Rohin-Wanglar Lineage” published in 2020. His second book titled “History of Monsang: An Indigenous Naga Tribe of Manipur” is to be published soon, the congratulatory note issued on Monday stated.
