Moyon Naga Community Celebrates Buwren’ Peh Festival at Khongjon Village

Chandel, October 28: The Buwren’ Peh festival of the Moyon Naga community was celebrated with great fervor on Sunday at Khongjon Village under Chandel district. Organized by Bujuur Aanchung Puh (Moyon Naga Union) in collaboration with Khungjuur Khuw, the event was marked with cultural programmes and blessing prayer.

The symbolic celebration, attended by a modest gathering, saw the presence of notable dignitaries including BAP President Khp. Chinir Francis, BAP Assembly Affairs Speaker Upa. Ngurngam Ngoruw, MYNBA Executive Secretary Rev. Pheliboy Roel, MCA Chairman Khp. Angningden Roel, BSR President Shanuw Tiningsha Nungchim, TTBR General Secretary Morningson Chinir, BKN Executives, former leaders, Moyon Chiefs, pastors, catechists, BAP executives, Village authorities and well wishers.

The festival commenced with an invocation prayer led by Shapa Ezekiel Ngoruw, L/C St. Thomas Church Thangkin, setting the tone for the celebration. This was followed by a welcome note addressed by Khp. Angningden Roel, Chief of Khungjuur.

In his presidential speech, Khp. Chinir Francis highlighted the significance of observing Buwren’ Peh, emphasizing the importance of love, harmony, and unity among the Moyon community. The Act of Buwren-ipeh was showcased by Shanuw Anyrose Chinir, and a special blessing prayer was conducted by Rev. Pheliboy Roel.

Khp. R. Jindashing Moyon, former BAP president, shared the historical significance of Khungjuur village and appreciated the Bujuur Aanchung Puh for organizing the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shapa Eddie Chara, BAP Finance Secretary who expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors who made the event a grand success.

The festival featured a folk song by Khungjuur Larchang Shanuw, special performances by renowned artists of the Moyon community, and culminated with a mass Moyon cultural dance and a grand Buwren’ Peh feast.
