Delhi, October 28: The Monsang Community Delhi celebrated its annual Buwhrin Esha cum Freshers’ Meet 2025 in a grand and joyous manner at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Okhla, New Delhi, on Sunday, under the theme “Grateful Hearts, Joyous Beginnings.”

The event began with a welcome address by Th. Tommy Monsang, President of the Monsang Elders Forum Delhi, who extended a warm welcome to all present, including the Speaker of the Day, the Executives of the Chandel Society Delhi (CSD), the apex organisation representing all Naga communities from the (undivided) Chandel District residing in Delhi-NCR, elders of the community, and all others. He also extended a warm welcome to the leaders of various Tribal Student Unions in Delhi, acknowledging their gracious presence and participation, which made the celebration vibrant and memorable.

The Speaker of the Day, Dr. Sh. Francis Kingdom, Assistant Professor at IIT Kanpur, delivered an inspiring address, placing the Buwhrin Esha festival in its historical and cultural context. He underscored the importance of preserving and promoting traditional celebrations such as Buwhrin Esha and Ekkam Festival, both of which have been celebrated through generations. These, he noted, not only form the cornerstone of Monsang cultural identity but also represent a rich cultural heritage that speaks of the depth of traditional inheritance.

On behalf of the Chandel Society Delhi, Romeo Sankhil shared greetings and highlighted the good Delhi has to offer, emphasising the need to stay connected to the community and church in Delhi. Each of the freshers was presented with a customised memento and a Bible, and W. Jimson, Coordinator, Monsang Baptist Fellowship Delhi, led the prayer for the freshers.

The second session featured an array of exciting items and competitions designed by the STSD (Monsang Students’ Union, Delhi) Executives to bring in elements of fun and creativity. As part of the thanksgiving tradition, harvest produce brought from Chandel was offered in gratitude to God. The subsequent auction of the harvest items added to the joy and excitement of the day, creating a cheerful and festive atmosphere.
