Naga Conclave, 2023 organised by the UNC concludes at Senapati

Senapati, April 12: A two-day Naga Conclave, 2023 organised by the United Naga Council (UNC) concluded on Wednesday at Maram Union Secretariat, Old Monday Market, Senapati.

Ng. Lorho, president, UNC brought the keynote address at the beginning of the session who mentioned that the conclave was organised as per a resolution passed during the Naga People’s Convention held in the later part of March, 2023.

Revisiting the 3rd Naga People’s Convention, 2010 declaration/Alternative Arrangement, power point presentation on “NPC Declaration, 2010 & Alternative Arrangement” was brought by L. Adani, Ex-president, UNC; power point presentation on district creation/Mushrooming of organizations was presented by Samson Remei, vice president, Naga Hoho during the first session of the conclave.

The 2nd session began under the theme, “Understanding our Neighbours” where G. Gaingam, Ex-president, UNC presented on Indigenous issues; Power point highlights on “NRC/Population Commission” was presented by S. Kho John, advisor and former president, UNC.

The second day continued with paper presentation on “Tribals and issue of Land & Forest Rights in Manipur” by K. Timothy Zimik, IRS, chief commissioner of income tax (Retired), Ministry of Finance (Revenue), Govt of India; Daniel Ramsan, Advocate, Manipur High Court deliver power point presentation on “Article 371-C/ADC/ Village Authorities in Hill Areas Act, 1956 & ST Demand.”

Second session on the second day continued with paper presentation on “Procrastination of delimitation in Manipur and its impact” by Home Raikhan, IRS (Retired) and “reflection on election” by the president, UNC. Discussion followed in the later part of the program.

Briefing media, Ng. Lorho, president, UNC stated that the conclave was organised by the United Naga Council from April 11 to 12. Braining storming sessions during the program concluded on Wednesday with 7 different resource persons on different topics. All the topics during the conclave will be analysed that had been taken note of and final decision to be out within a short span of time after sitting together with all the concerned leaders with the executives of the UNC.

The organiser said that the conclave was a pleasant and healthy one with series of interactions from 20 different Naga tribe leaders, intellectuals, parliamentarians, ex-parliamentarians and other leaders from Nagas of Manipur.
