SENAPATI: The Naga Hoho on Friday resolved to dissolve its existing Executive Council during the 3rd Federal Assembly held at S.M. Sha Hall, Rikhumai Taphou in Senapati, paving the way for the election of a new leadership within the next three months.
The Assembly brought together representatives from various Naga tribes across Nagaland and Manipur. The programme commenced with a minute of silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict in Manipur.
In his address, Naga Hoho Speaker Pauheu Newme emphasized the need for unity among the Nagas, urging the community to move beyond tribal and sectional interests.
“We should come out from compartmental spirit, let us come out from this narrow mindset,” he said, calling for collective efforts to strengthen the Naga people.
Addressing Assembly, Naga Hoho President Sulanthung Lotha reiterated the organisation’s commitment to Naga unity and urged the Government of India to resolve the long-pending Naga political issue.

“Only through unity can we safeguard our identity, strengthen our society, and build a brighter future for the coming generations,” Lotha said. He also appealed to the Centre to “settle the Naga political issue based on the agreements that have already been reached,” saying an honourable and inclusive solution is essential for lasting peace.
After the inaugural session, the Assembly held its business proceedings behind closed doors, with media personnel not allowed to remain inside the hall. As a result, the details of the discussions and decisions taken during the session were not made public.
At the end of the Assembly, the House announced that the present Executive Council had been dissolved and that a fresh Executive Council would be constituted within the next three months. Until the election of the new leadership, Speaker Pauheu Newme will look after the affairs of the Naga Hoho in an interim capacity.
