The Naga People’s Front (NPF) observed its 58th Foundation Day today at its head Office, Senapati. Organised by the NPF, Senapati Division, the program was attended by different executives of the state and district, constituencies and district council constituencies, ADC members, intending ADC candidates from the party and supporters of the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Thisho Kriina, ADC member, 6-Pudunamei DCC stated that the NPF came to Manipur in 2011 when a strong team of the NPF ruled in Nagaland. After the launching of the party, 4 candidates from NPF were elected to Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2012 that later led to recognition of the party as a recognised political party in the state assembly.
Later in 2015, the NPF led Govt was formed in the ADC, Senapati as majority and got elected the MP from the party with support from the public. With the approach of the ADC election is round the corner, the councilor mentioned that many intending candidates are in fray seeking for party ticket and urged the gathering to support the party in the coming ADC election.
Sony Matthew, President, NPF, Senapati Division stated that during the 1951 plebiscite, 99.9% of Nagas preferred to be Naga and opted not to join the Indian Union when Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister of the country.
Thereafter, one Kevichusa came to Delhi and registered the “Democratic Party of Nagaland” as a political party to the election commission of India with the same symbol of “Cock” and same motto as “Fide Non Armis” of the party.
Naga People’s Front (NPF) reportedly came into being after fourth evolution that led to the party to first introduce into Manipur state in May, 2011. Out of 11 party tickets issued in the state assembly election in 2012, 4 candidates got elected from the party that later led to recognition of the party in the state assembly.
In 2014 MP election, the NPF was also in the fray as it’s candidate but unfortunately could not be elected. 43 Councillors from different hill districts of the state got elected from the NPF with 3 hill districts of Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong governed the ADC administration by the NPF Councillors.
With induction from independent candidates, there are reportedly 50 councillors from the party at present. 4 NPF MLAs resigned from their membership in the state Legislative Assembly in the past over 3 bills of CAB row. NPF MP was recently elected in the 2nd Outer Manipur Parliamentary elections. Elected NPF MLAs of Nagaland have been taking active role through their recently formed Political Affairs Mission in Nagaland to bring honourable and acceptable solution to the long Indo-Naga political problem.
The NPF has 2 ministers in the state Govt at present, mentioned the Divisional President while giving report of the party in the past. While wishing the very best to all the intending candidates of the coming ADC election, Sony Matthew also sought the cooperation of all to favour and vote for the party. The program ended with mass spoken prayer seeking God’s grace in all activities and with slogan in unison, “Long live, NPF.”
