Naga Students’ Union Chandel Celebrates 44th Foundation Day, Felicitates Over 100 Meritorious Naga Students

Chandel, June 4: The 44th Foundation Day of the Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC) was celebrated on Wednesday at the Chamdil Town Hall, Panchai in Chandel district under the theme “Lighting Up The Path Of Achievement”.

As part of the observation, meritorious awards were also given away to students who excelled in the Classes 10 and 12 examinations conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE the results of which were declared recently. Over 100 students from the district belonging to the Naga community were presented with a Certificate of Merit as appreciation for their performance.

Mothil Saka, Executive Magistrate, SDC, Chandel district headquarters, who came in liu of L. Nandakumar Singh, DC, Chandel as chief guest congratulated NSUC for completing 44 years of its existence. The SDC also congratulated all the students for excellent results and their school, teachers and parents for the support. He suggested that NSUC and the students take to other curriculum activities such sports and excel in the same. He further suggested that the student body conduct talent search to identify the talents of individuals and encourage the same.

Indrajit Wahengbam, Principal DIET, Chandel and Y. Hemchand Singh, ZEO, Chandel as functional president and guest of honour respectively congratulated NSUC for 44 years of existence and the students for their success in the Classes 10 and 12 exams. They advised the students to choose their subjects wisely as per their heart’s desire and strive ahead in life.

Ruwnglar Elly Anal, President, NSUC, giving the presidential address welcomed all those present and thanked them for their support. He said the NSUC is a student body and will always stand with the students.

Ng. Gilbert Monsang, Founding President of NSUC and Th. Angteshang Maring, President of ANSAM also exhorted the students and called for a free and fair form of education in their lives.

Besides the students who were felicitated for their excellent results, four other individuals were also felicitated. They are Ngiiriiti Rothangri Monsang, national level winner of Veer Gatha 4.0 for Class 9-10; Ngiiri Ningsingam Patrick, class 8 student of UPS Japhou for first prize in state level quiz competition; Sr. Ningnihring Anal, a national level Asst. Referee and officiating national matches and Rd. Hringnidam Anal, a national level referee and the first from the Anal Community to officiate Indian Women League.

The celebration also saw performances from Sk. Tabitha Lamkang, a renowned singer in the district and a beautiful presentation by Y. Shungrei Chothe, a differently-abled musician. All the students who were felicitated were prayed for by Rev. Shonnai Saka, President of Chandel Naga Christian Fellowship (CNCF).
