Naga Students’ Union Chandel opposes Kuki-Zo ‘Nationwide Rally’ in its jurisdiction

Chandel: The Naga Students’ Union Chandel on Tuesday said it will “not allow any forum(s) or organization(s) to organize any form of agitation or rally within the jurisdiction of NSUC in Chandel, including Tengnoupal, the areas of Naga ancestral land on matters relating to the ongoing crisis in Manipur.”

In a strongly worded press release, the NSUC warned “Failing to comply will be considered as a sign of fomentation against the Nagas of Chandel,” it further added that “Not an inch of Naga’s Land shall be utilized by any other community without the consent of the legitimate land owner for one’s unidirectional motive.”

The Tangkhul Naga frontal organizations also had issued a stern warning on Monday, against the proposed “Nationwide Rally” organised by Kuki-Zo tribals slated for November 29, notifying that any organization or forum (s) will not be allowed to organise any form of rally or agitation within the jurisdiction of Tangkhul Naga areas related to the ongoing conflict without consulting them.

The “Nationwide Rally” seeking support for the Kuki-Zo demand for “Separate Administration” is proposed in at least 21 locations all over India and includes as many as 12 States — Chennai, Delhi, Assam, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram.
