Naga Women’s Union Condemns July 26 Incident; Demands Justice from DGP

Senapati: The Naga Women’s Union (NWU) has condemned the incident on July 26 and written to the Director General of Police, Manipur, demanding justice.

Ch Priscilla Thiumai, President of NWU, addressed a letter to the DGP, Manipur, requesting immediate action and appropriate punishment for the perpetrators involved in the assault on Nagas at The Ocean Lounge, Khuman Lampak.

In her letter, President Thiumai emphasized the urgent need to address the recent and distressing assault that targeted members of the Naga community, resulting in severe physical and psychological trauma to the victims and the broader Naga community.

The letter stated that the NWU, as a concerned citizen group, is deeply troubled by the rising violence within the community. This incident not only highlighted the vulnerability of the Naga communities but also underscored the urgent need for a thorough and impartial investigation. The NWU called for transparent communication with the public regarding the progress and findings of the investigation to ensure justice is served.

In light of the distressing events, the NWU earnestly requested the esteemed office to take immediate and stringent action against the perpetrators. They stressed that the accused must be brought to justice swiftly to restore the Naga community’s faith in the legal system and deter any future incidents of such nature.

The NWU believes that swift and decisive action by the police will restore faith in law enforcement agencies among the public. They trust that the office will treat this matter with the utmost urgency and seriousness it deserves.

The women’s organization looks forward to a positive response and decisive action.
