Kohima: Altogether 18 players and 2 officials left Kohima for Goa for the forthcoming 9th National Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Championship 2021 on October 24 evening.
Nagaland contingent under the aegis of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) will take part in the 9th National Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Championship 2021 which is scheduled to be held from October 29 to 31.
NWA conducted a send-off service at The Bamboo Shoot, Kohima before the departure of the Nagaland contingent from Kohima.
NWA president Dr. Hiabe Zeliang wished all the contingents a safe journey. He urged the contingents to do their best on the playing field and come back with medals.
The contingents will participate in belt wrestling as well as MAS events in different categories, he added.
The contingents includes, Venuzo Dawhuo, Mezivil Kiso, Vekutho Soho, Kevizhakho Suokhrie, Seyiejalie Gwirie, Keneiselie Khawakhrie, Rokokehie Khawakhrie, Vevotso Lase, Rokovotuo Khawakhrie, Vizoseu Metha, Kutho Luruo, Bongtang Phom, Yimkum Sashi, Thechamo Murry, Itingchi, Vekhonielu Curhah, Dukholu Vadeo, Mitwatei, Keduvilie Zumu and Surhoneyi Soho.
Vekhonielu Curhah is a lone female participant.
Mitwatei Hegwang and Dukholu Vadeo will lead the team as officials.
Surhoneyi Soho will participate in MAS wrestling, and will also officiate the belt wrestling event as referee.
Keduovilie Zumu will be the Nagaland contingent coach, who will also join MAS wrestling.
The Championship will be conducted under the aegis of All India Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Federation (AITWPF).
