Ukhrul, October 23: The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) on Thursday condemned the alleged drone attack reportedly carried out by the Indian Army in Khammoi (Khenmoi-Loiyi), a Naga village under the East Konyak Region in Myanmar on October 20 evening, reportedly leaving two civilians dead and four others injured. It also condemned the attack made on the 4th Assam Rifles Check post at Hahman village in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on October 16.
“NBCC is disturbed by the attack made on the 4th Assam Rifles Check post at Hahman village, near Manmao in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on October 16 where the NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung group) claimed that its armed wing carried out the attack; and the drone attack by Indian Army in Khammoi (Khenmoi-Loiyi) village under East Konyak Region on 20 October 2025,” NBCC said in its condemnation letter.

Condemning both the incidents, NBCC called upon all parties to respect and value human lives while maintaining that NBCC abhors bloodshed and does not support violence in any form. It appealed to all Naga national groups to abandon violence and engage in democratic means and processes to assert the Naga struggle and the historical legitimacy of the people.
“The killing of an innocent girl, Phiphot Wangsa age 7, and a 27-year-old Khampei Wangsa, who was a promising student leader in the cover of darkness at 6.30 PM (1ST), by the Indian armed forces is condemned in the strongest terms. Additionally, four others were critically injured in the brutal attack. Such acts of impunity by Indian Armed forces in Naga villages bring to all Nagas the traumatic experiences suffered in the hands of the Indian military might since the 1950s,” the NBCC stated.

NBCC further stated that military crime cannot and should not be allowed by the Government of India. India must not lose sight of its preamble and democratic vision and foundation, it added.
Stating that taking lives is unimaginable and an act of abhorrence to God and its Christian moral principle, the NBCC extended its prayer support and shared condolences to the bereaved families.
“We fully extend our fullest support and prayers to the people of Khammoi (Khenmoi-Loiyi) village and the Eastern Konyak Region during this most challenging time,” the Nagaland Baptist Church Council stated.
The NBCC’s statement ended with a reference to the Bible verses from Proverbs 24:11-12 “Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to death; don’t stand back and let them die. Don’t try to avoid responsibility by saying you didn’t know about it. For God knows all hearts, and he sees you. He keeps watch over your soul, and he knows you knew! And he will judge all people according to what they have done.”
