Indian Red Cross Society Tamenglong District Branch Launched

TAMENGLONG: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Tamenglong District Branch was officially launched on Saturday at ZEF Hall, Tamenglong headquarters in the presence of district officials, community leaders and youth representatives.

The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Tamenglong District Branch was launched by Tamenglong Deputy Commissioner and IRCS Tamenglong District Branch president Angshim Dangshawa, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dangshawa highlighted the society’s core mandate – to protect human life and health, alleviate suffering, and provide disaster relief, medical care, and blood services and urged the youth to play an active role in achieving these goals.

He further called on young people to enrol with the Red Cross Society “in the maximum possible number” to strengthen local preparedness and humanitarian response.

Also attending the launch event Guest of Honour Lanmiyo Luikham, Superintendent of Police, Tamenglong assured to provide all possible assistance by the department.

One of the main highlights of the event was the hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstration by Dr Francis Daimei, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital (DH) Tamenglong.

Dr Namju Daimai, Orthopaedic Surgeon, DH Tamenglong also demonstrated basic first-aid techniques for common emergencies. 

Organisers said the demonstrations aimed to equip volunteers and community members with life-saving skills.

Chief Executive Officer of the Tamenglong Autonomous District Council, Kachangthai F Gangmei; former MDC Ramningle Pame, other local leaders and a large number of youths were also present at the launch event.
