Kohima, March 24, 2025: A five-day workshop aimed at integrating the State Curriculum Framework for School Education (SCF-SE) commenced today, bringing together participants from the Department of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs).
The workshop, organized in collaboration with Azim Premji University, leverages the institution’s expertise in providing academic, technical, and pedagogical support.
During the inaugural session, Lima, Additional Director of DoSE, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the workshop’s significance in formulating a cohesive curriculum framework aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Lima noted that the development of SCF-SE in Nagaland began following the Ministry of Education’s directive to all states in May 2021. The SCERT, serving as the nodal agency, coordinated the process through a Steering Committee to incorporate diverse perspectives.
The framework’s foundation was laid through 25 Position Papers, drafted by 25 Focus Groups comprising experts from various departments, including DoSE, SCERT, DIETs, NBSE, Nagaland University, the Department of Higher Education, the Department of Social Welfare, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, and NGOs. These papers provided the theoretical and policy groundwork for the curriculum, Lima explained.

Subsequently, Task Groups were formed to focus on specialized areas such as Language Education, Science Education, Art Education, Aims and Curricular Areas, and School Culture and Processes. Azim Premji University played a pivotal role throughout this phase, offering guidance to strengthen the framework.
The ongoing workshop seeks to consolidate the sections developed by the Task Groups into a unified document. Lima stressed that the primary objective is to ensure consistency in language, structure, and vision while addressing the unique needs of Nagaland’s education system.
“Our shared goal is to create a curriculum framework that will serve as a guiding document for shaping school education in Nagaland in alignment with NEP 2020,” he stated.
Lima urged participants to actively engage in discussions to ensure the SCF-SE is robust, inclusive, and transformative.
The workshop, which will conclude on March 28, 2025, is expected to finalize a framework marking a crucial step toward NEP 2020 implementation in Nagaland.
The inaugural session was also attended by Deenbandhu Panda, Additional Director of DoSE, and Vikas Roy, Faculty Member at Azim Premji University.
