Nagaland SEC Implements ECI Order on NDPP-NPF Merger

KOHIMA, MAY 18: The State Election Commission, Nagaland, has informed that it has received a copy of the Order No. 56/06/2026/PPS-II dated 04.05.2026 of the Election Commission of India (ECI) whereby the ECI has recognized the merger of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) with the Naga People’s Front (NPF) as per the meeting decision of October 18, 2025, with the NDPP subsequently ceasing to exist as a separate political party.

“And whereas, in the General Election to the Municipal and Town Councils, 2024, the names of NDPP candidates who were declared winners were duly notified and published in the Nagaland Gazette (Extraordinary) vide the Commission’s Notification NO.SEC/ELE- RESULT/2024/279 dated 01.07.2024”, an official statement said today.

“Now therefore, in light of the official recognition of the merger as stated above and in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 31 (1) read with Section 44 of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, the party name of NDPP (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party) against each corresponding winner, wherever it appeared in the aforesaid Gazette, shall hereby stand amended as NPF (Naga People’s Front) for all practical purposes in the concerned municipalities with effect from the date of publication in the Nagaland Gazette”, it added.
