CHURACHANDPUR: National Girl Child Day 2026 was observed at the DC’s Conference Hall, Mini-secretariat in Churachandpur, Manipur on Saturday.
In a symbolic gesture, staff members of the district administration and participants collectively took a pledge to promote awareness about the rights, education, health, and welfare of girls.
Speaking on the occasion, Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S said that the observance of National Girl Child Day was a moment of collective commitment to uphold the dignity, empowerment, and socio-economic development of women.

The DC noted that the district has consistently performed well in competitive examinations, with women emerging as more educated and accomplished than in earlier years.
“We must ensure equal opportunities and treatment for women, extending to education, employment, and social participation,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized that women should be able to pursue their aspirations freely, choosing what they wish to do, how they wish to do it, and where they wish to do it, within a safe and supportive environment.

To mark the day, meritorious girl students, based on their academic performance in Class X and XII examinations, and subject toppers in Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities, were felicitated with certificates and gifts from the district administration.
Nine girls from the MBBS Final Year (2022 batch) and five newly admitted MBBS students, including three IDPs, were also felicitated.
Students, parents, DLOs and line staff from the district administration attended the event.
