Shillong, Sept 18: Vice Chancellor of NEHU, Shillong, Professor P S Shukla today inaugurated the 2nd Edition of Anusandhan at the Conference Hall of Northeastern Hill University (NEHU) Campus Tura organised by NEHU Research and Development Cell.
It may be mentioned that the program ensures to engage in stimulating conversations, explore new ideas and foster collaboration with various disciplines.
Campus Director, NEHU Tura Campus Sujata Gurudev, Professor Timir Tripathi, Department of Zoology, NEHU Shillong, Professor S R Joshi, Director, R & D Cell, Dr Madhukar Gampala NEHU Tura Campus Organising Secretary, Dr Sunildro L S Akoijam, NEHU Tura Campus Organising Secretary, other distinguished Academicians, Heads of Department, Research Scholars and students attended the function.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Shillong, P S Sukla mentioned that the real meaning of degree is showing one’s capability to perform at different stages while as per the New National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has emphasized on the contribution towards the society and others developing innovations apart from acquiring skills and capability.
Stressing on the significance of Anusandhan, the Vice Chancellor said that the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) aims to promote research and development and foster a culture of research and innovation throughout India, by funding, coordinating and promoting research across India’s Universities and colleges. Encouraging the research scholars and students, he said that the initiative is a crucial step in pushing India towards becoming a knowledge driven society, and creating an ecosystem where high-risk, cutting-edge research can flourish within academic institutions.
Mentioning that the person having the best idea, intellect and best thinking ability would have better achievement and development goals in future, he said the key highlights of these initiatives are membership and collaborative learning opportunities provided which would enhance the research skill of the scholars of this campus. Stating about the implementation of Start up ventures, entrepreneurship, etc he lauded the faculty members of Tura Campus since they have already taken up these initiatives in the campus.
Further, he said that this foundation is a movement and urged the faculty members to conduct it every year to encourage and inspire the research scholars with the resources available, also urging the research scholars to come forward towards knowledge driven economy and thereby paving way for sustainable and inclusive development.
Speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, the Campus Director, NEHU, Tura Campus, Sujata Gurudev highlighted few insights on the importance of Research and Development. Sharing her observation she said that the world is facing a crisis and in a situation which needs to act fast and the only way to develop is through research. Referring to various global issues of the region particularly, she said that academia is not only about learning but to do something and while mentioning about the diversity of Garo Hills region, she urged all to research as well to preserve the assets of the region.
