Neiphiu Rio calls Hornbill Festival a grand success

Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has said that the famed Hornbill Festival achieved its “prime aspiration.”

For several years now the Nagaland government has been organising the Hornbill Festival which has also been christened as ‘Festival of the festivals.’ It is held every year from December 1 to December 10 at Naga Heritage Village at Kisama near Kohima.

Congratulating the Tourism department of Nagaland government and all stakeholders on the successful conduct of the 23rd Edition of the Hornbill Festival 2022, Neiphiu Rio said that “the festival was a grand success and despite all the challenges and hurdles, it has once again pushed Brand Nagaland towards greater international recognition in a positive manner.”

The Nagaland chief minister said that the Hornbill Festival has achieved its “prime aspiration of preserving, promoting, and popularising the rich culture and heritage of the Naga people in a manner that creates a sustainable economy and generates employment for our youth under our slogan and policy of ‘Land of Festivals.’”

Neiphiu Rio also conveyed the appreciation of the Nagaland government to all the government agencies, tribal organizations, NGOs, civil societies and church organizations, event management groups, and participants who positively contributed towards the grand success of the Hornbill Festival 2022.

“We are also grateful to the thousands of tourists – international, domestic, and local – who have visited the dozens of festival venues and events and added to the success story. We appeal to our friends to kindly forgive us for the shortfalls and do visit us again with more friends and loved ones,” the message of the Nagaland chief minister also stated.
