Kathmandu (SHABD): The death toll from last week’s devastating flash floods has crossed 1,000.
According to Nepal’s disaster management authority, at least 1,003 people have died, while around 4,500 remain missing.
Search and rescue operations have entered their seventh day, with more than 10,000 people rescued so far.
Intermittent rain, swollen rivers, and damaged roads and bridges continue to hamper efforts to reach those still stranded.

Kathmandu has sought additional international support, including specialised equipment and technical assistance for tunnel rescue and forensic work.
The flood-hit country has requested freezers, DNA testing kits, LiDAR equipment, high-capacity drones, and temporary bridges, while a team of 19 Indian forensic experts specialising in DNA analysis has been assisting Nepalese officials since Saturday.
