Under the theme “Step Forward Or You Will Fall” the programme was organised by Phungcham Katamnao Mayar Ngala Long (PKMNL).

Speaking at the event, Alfred Kanngam Arthur implored the gathering “to stand up for our rights and never compromise with our due share as enshrined and guaranteed by the Constitution of India.” He further said, “Since 1972, we have been deprived of our due and rightful shares in all spheres. It is our duty to stand up and fight so that we can live a dignified life in the days and years to come.”

He challenged the gatherings asking whether they should remain crippled or choose a dignified life. “We really need to understand our position so that we can decide and move forward on the right direction. Our needs vary, our understanding level is different, our knowledge is also not equal. We have different capacities and capabilities, and as such, we have different roles and responsibilities” added Alfred Kanngam Arthur.

Alfred Kanngam Arthur while acknowledging that Phungcham is considered as one of the oldest village among the Tangkhul villages stated that “it is a privilege to have stepped into Phungcham for the first time and that also in the beginning of the year. I believe, to begin the year from this village would pave way to a meaningful journey. I wish everyone a dignified life in the days to come.”
