CHANDEL: Ps. Nungjoy on Friday took oath as the new chief of Hnatham Village in Chandel at the village ground in a simple yet meaningful customary ceremony called Khuruwng Sangkadon. The Oath was administered by Nl. Wolhring, president of Anallon Chief Association (ALCA) which is the apex body of all Anal village chiefs.
Taking Oath, Ps. Nungjoy pledged before God and Man to use his seat for the right purpose and not misuse it. He also pledged to work sincerely and with dedication. He further pledged that should be abuse his position as the chief of Hnatham Village, he would vacate his seat.
As a customary practice, Wl. Robertson, the outgoing chief, presented the new chief with a Red shawl, a symbol of position. He also presented him with a front leg of a cow, stating that may it be symbol of moving forward and leading from the front.
The outgoing chief also congratulated the new chief and wished him the best.

Addressing the ceremony, the new chief, Ps. Nungjoy owed to served his villagers diligently and sincerely. He also appealed for support from members of the village authority, women society, the youth and the Church leaders.
The Khuruwng Sangkadon was attended by members of ALCA, chiefs from various Anal Naga villages, Church leaders including Dr. Ss. Olish, Hon’ble MLA of 41-Chandel (ST) AC.
Moderated by Wng. Lawrence, the ceremony also show cultural items such as folk songs, cultural dances, etc.
