UKHRUL: The Naga Women’s Union has written to the Director General, National Investigation Agency (NIA), seeking a fair, impartial, and expeditious investigation into the abduction, hostage-taking, torture, and murder of six innocent Naga Civilians of Konsakhul, Manipur. The letter was submitted today through the Deputy Commissioner, Senapati District, Manipur.
In the representation signed by its President, Ch Priscilla Thiumai, the union sought justice for the six Naga civilians of Konsakhul village who were abducted on May 13 and whose mortal remains were subsequently recovered on 10 June 2026 after they had been subjected to a brutal and inhuman death.

“The manner in which the victims’ bodies were found, beheaded, mutilated, dismembered, and subjected to other forms of extreme violence has profoundly shocked the conscience of society. All persons directly or indirectly involved in the abduction, unlawful confinement of 12 women, including a 2-year-old child, torture, murder, and concealment of evidence must be identified and held fully accountable in accordance with the law,” the union demanded.
Further, the NWU, taking into consideration the seriousness and sensitivity of the case, urged that a thorough, impartial, and time-bound investigation be conducted without fear or favor. It then placed the following demands:
1. To arrest the chief of Leilon Vaiphei village, who is reportedly absconding.
2. The immediate arrest and prosecution of more than 30 women have reportedly been identified through electoral cards with the assistance of the Kangpokpi Police.

3. Immediate arrest of the state police personnel, Thanggilian Vaiphei of Leilon Vaiphei village, whose involvement in this crime was clearly witnessed by the hostage women.
4. Investigate the role of the KNF-P organization under the SoO framework in this horrific crime. In addition, initiate appropriate legal action against individuals found responsible, irrespective of their position or status.
5. To arrest all persons who are involved in the abduction, confinement, murder, and concealment of evidence, including any direct or indirect facilitation of these crimes.
6. Ensure the preservation of all material, forensic, and digital evidence.

The NWU, stating that the crime is highly sensitive, appealed to bring the perpetrators into the lawful process and give appropriate punishment commensurate with the degree of the crime. “This case is not merely a criminal matter but a profound human tragedy that has caused immense suffering to the families of the victims and to all the people,” it stated while also placing faith in the agency so that justice and the rule of law are upheld.
