Ng Mono Monsang Memorial Hall inaugurated under the aegis of SUR

As per his brief biography, Ng Mono Monsang was formerly the President of the 'Naga Integration Committee of Manipur' in 1970 and served as Chairman of the then Tengnoupal District Council from 1973-1977 among many other achievement and contributions.

Chandel: The inauguration & dedication function of Ng Mono Monsang Memorial Hall (Monsang Tribe Hall), in honour of Late Upa Ng Mono Monsang for his leadership as the First MLA representing the Chandel district in 1948, under the aegis of Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union), the apex body of the Monsang tribe was held on Friday at Japhou village, Chandel district.

MLA 42-Tengnoupal A/C Upa D Korungthang attended the function as chief guest and unveiled the inauguration plaque and ribbon cutting of the hall. Bd Behring, Ex-MP/MLA, W Morung Makunga, Ex-MLA, St Victor Nunghlung, Ex-MLA attended the function as guest of honours. Sh Manglem Monsang, Ex-ADC member Chandel as functional president. Tribe President’s of Chandel district including leaders from UNC, CNPO, Monsang leaders and pastors, Christian mission workers, Monsang village chiefs and Monsang frontal organization leaders-SER, MLLS, MOA, SSR, and STS participated the function.

Executive Secretary MNBCA Rev Alani Shongsir dedicated the hall to God through blessing prayer. Ts Andrew, speaker SUR gave an introductory and welcome note. President SUR, Ng Gilbert appreciated all the dignitaries on the dais for their generous love and support for making the memorial hall come true. “It is a concerted effort of many important dignitaries including members on the dais and well wishers for their financial support and assistance including Chief Minister N Biren Singh,” said Gilbert. He also expressed his gratitude to all the generous donors.

The dignitaries on the dais in their speech emphasized the contribution of late Ng Mono Monsang particularly in the field of education and politics not only in Chandel district but even at the larger pan Naga level. As per his brief biography, Ng Mono Monsang was formerly the President of the ‘Naga Integration Committee of Manipur’ in 1970 and served as Chairman of the then Tengnoupal District Council from 1973-1977 among many other achievement and contributions. The speakers noted his legacies and appreciated SUR for taking the initiative to complete the hall in his memory and tribute.

During the function held, former Monsang tribe leaders namely Late Ng Manglemchao, first tribe president and Late Ts Phamjir, first general secretary of Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union) were posthumously honour on this auspicious occassion. Besides, all the former Monsang tribe president’s namely Late Upa Sh Kothar, Upa Th Angpatin, Upa Ts Ngamtin, and Upa Ng Benithan were also honoured and presented with gifts. Land donor-Japhou village authority leaders were also honoured and presented gifts from SUR. The land for construction of the said hall was donated to Monsang Tribe Union by Japhou Village Authority during the chieftaincy of late W Lartin Monsang on 8th August 1981. Ng Benithan, advisor SUR appreciated all the dignitaries, donors, well-wishers and participants of the function in his vote of thanks.
