CHANDEL: Sh. Nicodim Monsang, headmaster of Japhou Upper Primary School in Chandel, has been awarded the Jose Ramos Horta International Teacher Prize 2026 in recognition of his contribution to the teaching profession and education.
The award was presented during the Felicitation Ceremony and Distribution of the Jose Ramos Horta International Teacher Prize 2026 held on September 25 at the Jose Ramos Horta International Peace Centre, Samaram, Manipur.
The Shongsir Eenkuw Lhuunga Ruh (SELR), also known as the Monsang Shongsir Clan Society, congratulated Monsang on the achievement.
Sh. Nicodim Monsang hails from Japhou village in Chandel district. He is the seventh son of Sh. Betin Monsang and late Mrs Ng. Menchim Monsang.
The SELR said the achievement was a matter of honour and inspiration for his family, the Monsang community and wider society.
It also wished Sh. Nicodim Monsang continued success and hoped that his dedication to education would inspire more young learners and educators.
