Senapati, July 26: NIELIT, Senapati Extension Centre organised an Inter-School painting competition under the theme, “Information Technology in pollution control” at its office building participated by different school students.
The inaugural session was graced by Raishe PA, Director (Evaluation & Monitoring), North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and PL Rongmei, Principal Technical Officer (PTO), NIELIT, Imphal as the functional President respectively.
Rita Kho, Project Associate, NIELIT, Senapati in her welcome note stated that the event was organised with an aim to control pollution through information technology.
PL Rongmei, Principal Technical Officer (PTO), NIELIT in his speech mentioned that pollution is taking not only in the environment but to control pollution that were created by man and that Information Technology can spread the awareness to different people at different places.

Speaking as the chief guest, Raishe PA, Director (Evaluation & Monitoring), North Eastern Council (NEC) explained the meaning of pollution as the unwanted substances that are found nature which is harmful one’s health, environment, etc. When water is polluted, it is no longer safe to drink by terming as polluted water. Different kinds of pollutions like water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and others. Many industries operating at different places pollute the air with production of unwanted wastes. The chief guest urged the young students to fight for such unwanted things that can affect human lives and questioned how can contribute to control pollutions. The Director also urged the young students not to throw wastes and litter that can pollute the surroundings, by urging them to spread the awareness to friends who were not present on the day in order to make a better world. While the winners will be awarded with prizes, the chief guest urged the remaining students not to be discouraged but try harder in future, urging all to be agent to control pollution.
Given under two categories as Sub-Junior from classes 3-5 and Junior from classes 6-10, around 200 students representing different schools of the district took part in the painting competitions. Earlier, students could enrol their free registrations through online mode.
In the later part of the program, Asavi T of Class 10 from Lao Radiant School bagged the first prize, YK Kabimajangpa of Class 10, St. Anthony School bagged the second prize and Veitheo Pou of Class 9 from Mave School bagged the third prize respectively in the Junior category while Roziila Rong, Class 5, St.Anthony School bagged the first prize, S Raihriina, Class 5, Bethany School bagged the second prize and Tsiiva Adore, Class 4, Don Bosco School bagged the third prize respectively in the Sub-Junior category.

Prize winners were awarded with Rs. 5,000/- with certificates to the first, Rs. 3,000/- with certificates to the second and Rs. 2,000/- with certificates to the third position holders of both categories.
