The Manipur government on Friday extended the night curfew from 7pm to 5am till July 20 in all districts of Manipur in view of the growing number of daily COVID-19 positive caseload in the state.
Acting on the Home department order, the district magistrate Ukhrul has imposed night curfew in the whole revenue district of Ukhrul from 11 July till 20 July.
However, in view of the hardships faced by the populace due to ongoing curfew in the district, the opening of local vegetable vendors, grocery shops, stationery, opticians, and shops/establishments dealing with inputs like fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, mechanical tools and NREGA activities will be allowed to opened from 10am till 4pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, untill further orders.
Further opening will depend on Covid scenario and progress of vaccination, the order issued by DM Ukhrul stated.
The COVID-19 situation in the state continues to be of concern and still warrants measures to control the spread of the infection, the Home department stated in its order.
It further directed Deputy commissioners and Superintendents of Police to take necessary action to ensure that the orders is strictly implemented in their respective district,
As per the order issued by the home department on Friday, authorised service centres of personal computers and mobiles can open from 10 am to 2 pm on the days when grocery shops are closed.
The district administration should ensure that spots for vendors are clearly marked and complied, it further stated.
The Home department also stated that the Manipur High Court may decide its activities, based on various measures taken up by the government, as deemed appropriate.
Ukhrul reported 11 positive cases on Friday while three patients were discharged. The district total active tally stands at 48.
On Friday, Manipur recorded 854 new COVID-19 positive cases and 10 deaths, taking the state’s tally and death toll to 76.032 and 1,251 respectively.
