Nine COVID-19 related deaths reported in Manipur in 24 hours

Manipur recorded the highest single-day COVID-19 related death cases on Monday after 9 persons died in the past 24 hours. With this update, the COVID-19 death tally rose to 180 on Monday even as the number of infection cases crossed 19,000-mark after the state detected 341 fresh COVID-19 cases.

Nine persons including three women of ages ranging from 35 to 80 years expired at different hospitals during the last 24 hours ((from 4 pm of November 1 till 4 pm of November 2), a press release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the state government said.

The COVID-19 infection tally of the state also rose to 19,091 as 341 fresh cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. The fresh infections included 313 from the general population and 28 from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

An update data of the state Health department, in the meantime, showed detection of maximum number of fresh COVID-19 infections in Imphal West district with 149 out of the 313 among the general population. The next worst affected Imphal East district reported 78 fresh cases which is the second highest among the districts of the state. 

All the fresh cases confirmed in the past 24 hours are locals without any significant travel history which the state Health department categorised as locally contracted cases. 

Meanwhile, a total of 278 COVID-19 cases including 20 CAPF personnel were discharged during the last 24 hours, climbing the recovered tally of the state to 15,343 (general population – 12,881 and CAPF- 2,462). The recovery rate stood at 80.36%.

Now, only 3,568 (general population– 3,246 and CAPF- 322) active cases are currently being treated at various Covid care centres across the state.
