Nineteen Govt School Teachers suspended during inspection

Nineteen government school teachers have been placed under suspension for not attending schools in the past two days in Manipur. The teachers were found absent while Manipur Education Minister S Rajen Singh paid surprise visits at schools on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Eight teachers were suspended on Tuesday and eleven of them on Wednesday. Orders have been issued in this regard by the Directorate of Education(S). 

Suspended teachers include nine from Lamlong Higher Secondary School, two from Khonghampat High School and eight from Lamdeng Government High School under Lamsang assembly constituency.

Nine teachers of Lamlong Higher Secondary School were found absent when a surprise visit was conducted at the school by a ministerial team on February 23. 

In continuation of the routine visits and inspection of schools, education minister Shri S. Rajen Singh paid a surprise visit at Khongampat Government High School, Heibongpokpi Goernment. High School and Khurkhul High School on Wednesday.

While checking attendance’s register of the teachers during the minister’s visit at Khongampat Government High School, two teachers were unauthorizedly found absent. Minister Rajen also inspected the infrastructures of those schools.

He also stated that the surprise visit will continue and try to cover the remaining districts also.  

Minister Rajen then appealed to all school staff to be dutiful and sincere to their service at this juncture since Board and Council exams are knocking at the door. He also urged the teachers to work in the interest of the student community of the state.
