Ningam Chamroy joins NPP; To contest from 45-Chingai (ST) AC

Imphal: Ningam Chamroy, former Manipur’s TA & Hills Director, IAS (retired) after resigning from BJP Manipur Primary/Active membership on January 31 has joined the National People’s Party today. He has been awarded with NPP ticket to contest from 45-Chingai (ST) AC.

The ruling BJP party had released its first and final list of 60 candidates to be in fray in the ensuing 2022 polls to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in which Ningam was denied ticket.

NPP national president and chairman of Central Election Committee Conrad K Sangma and Y Joykumar Singh today declared the name of nine more candidates under the party’s third phase announcement.

The National People’s Party (NPP) had released its second list of 13 candidates to be fielded as official nominees of the party. The party has so far, including the third phase, declared names of 42 candidates as it had earlier released names of 33 candidates in the first and second phase.

The party that secured four seats in the last Manipur assembly election (2017) had lost one of its legislators ahead of the announcement of the list of the candidates.

Ningam had officially joined BJP Manipur on August 15, 2021. He retired on superannuation in 2018 after serving in various capacities and Manipur State Civil service/ Indian Administrative service officer for the last 38 years.
