UKHRUL: In yet another global musical live performance in Manipur, an internationally acclaimed Nirvana Tribute band from the United Kingdom is set to perform live at YAC Ground, Yaiskul in Imphal on Friday. This marks the maiden show of the UK-based tribute band in the northeastern state of Manipur and in India.

The gig titled, “Festival of Nongin”, is being organised by the Giving Tree by Eventus and Pebet Designs.

In a press conference at the Giving Tree by Eventus, Sangaiprou in Imphal on Thursday, the band’s frontman, John Paul O Connor, revealed that the band has prepared to sing over 20 songs of Nirvana, the rock band of the 90s.

Other band members who attended the briefing include the band’s bassist Reese Edward Boakes, alias Moose and drummer Bradley James Ratcliffe.

“Our band tries to deliver the best performance we can to honor the memory of Kurt Cobain, the original songwriter, and Nirvana. We aim to deliver the most authentic experience for those who didn’t get to see them in the ‘90s,” said Paul.

John also expressed confidence that they will do justice as they perform live in Imphal and bring smiles to the people of the state. Expressing concern over the prevailing situation in the state, the band’s vocalist who had extensively travelled to dozens of countries across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including disturbed areas, said that the people here could find a resolution to bring peace in the state.

Two local rock bands namely Atingkok and the Down Lads will be opening the Nirvana Tribute performance in Imphal.
