NMA demands Investigation into Mizo Girl’s Death in Nagaland

The Naga Mother Association has sought Nagaland governor’s intervention into the death of Jones C Malsawmkimi who worked at the Army hospital of Sukhovi. Jones went missing on September 1 from her camp close to Dimapur. Her body was found in a jungle few kilometers away from her camp, Sukhovi in Nagaland on September 3.

“The letter of Dr. K. Pachhunga, Mizo MLA from her constituency of 33-Lunglei Mizoram gives credence that there was much more than the witness accounts of those arrested by the police in connection to the case,” NMA wrote to R N Ravi in the letter on September 8.

It further demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) be constituted to probe into the death of Jones immediately without imperiality, calling it a “sexual crime against a young army woman” in its state. NMA also, referring to Dr. K. Pachhunga, Mizo MLA, stated that the victim had no history of drug abuse. It also pointed out why the police investigation depended on the statement of strong suspects to the death and crime.

Meanwhile, Nagaland police has formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the death of Jones C Malsawmkimi. This was announced by Rothihu Tetseo, commissioner of police Dimapur on Wednesday. He also said that unless the final post-mortem report was out, nothing much can be said.
