PHERZAWL, NOV 18 (DIO): The District Administration of Pherzawl on Tuesday observed the fifth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) with a district-level programme at the DC Conference Hall, held in coordination with the national live-streamed event.

Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching administered the pledge and stressed the need for stronger preventive measures to protect children and youth from substance abuse. She urged parents, institutions and communities to take collective responsibility in promoting a drug-free society.
Joel G. Haokip, ADC/DSWO and Nodal Officer for NMBA, warned of the deep social impact of addiction, noting that unchecked substance abuse could harm future generations. He emphasised sustained, community-led preventive efforts.
Alongside the district-level observance, educational institutions and Anganwadi centres across Pherzawl marked the occasion. Schools conducted awareness activities under the NMBA campaign, where teachers and students took a collective pledge to refrain from drug use. The national NMBA anniversary event was streamed live across multiple locations in the district.

District officials reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying awareness campaigns and strengthening public participation in the fight against substance abuse.
